Volunteering with the Chamber of Commerce is a rewarding opportunity that not only supports local businesses but also strengthens the entire community. Here are the highlights of the events we need volunteers for:

Strolling the Streets of Downtown Cedar Springs 

  • Date: Starting August 16th

  • Time: 4:300 PM - 9:00 PM

  • Location: Main Street, Downtown Cedar Springs

Activities:

  • Open Mic Night: Hosted by Scott’s Music on the Main Street Patio from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Show off your talents or simply enjoy the local performers.

  • Sidewalk Sales: Explore amazing deals from local businesses and vendors along Main Street from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

  • Cozy Fire Pits: Starting August 30th, gather around fire pits on the Main Street Patio from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. As attendance grows, we will add more fire pits in the B2 district with designated supervisors for each.

Volunteers needed: Chamber Booth & Firepit tender

Halloween Spooktacular  October 31st

  • Set up 3 pm No Parking Signs in Parking spaces on Main Street

  • Road Closed 4pm, Line up 4:30 pm, Start 5:30 pm & End time 7:30 pm 

Volunteers needed:

  1. Visit Businesses on Main Street and 425 area (17mile/White Creek) to see who will be particpating

  2. Design Map to include Downtown and 425 area

  3. Sharing social media posts for event

  4. Day of:

    • Set up no parking signs and assist in road closure

    • Pick up no parking signs and assist with re-opening the road

    • Pictures during the event

    • Monitor Trunk or Treaters

Cedar Springs Celebration of Lights

We celebrate the lights of the past and the ones who helped light our way. Event starts at the time Lights would normally turn on and ends by 9pm.

  • Chase Bank gave permision to use their parking lot next to the new City Pocket Park on Main Street

  • Have a couple fire pits in the parking lot and Pocket Park

  • Speaker system for presentation on the person being honored

  • Coordinate overflow particpants to go to Main Street Patio and have a couple heaters or fire pits there

Volunteers needed:

  1. Firepit tender

  2. Sound person

  3. Two or three people to speak during event: Welcome speech, Speak about the community member being honored, speak about upcoming events/closing remarks

A Cedar Springs Christmas

Thursday December 5th: Mingle & Shop Late

  • Plan for two fire pits at the sidewalk by Main Street patio

  • Christmas Storytelling and Music during Mingle & Shop Late

  • Marshmallow and Candy Canes

  • Drawing station with hot cocoa, people will turn in store receipts for drawing entry

Volunteers needed:

  1. Chamber booth - hot cocoa and drawings

  2. Firepit tender

  3. Sound person

Saturday December 7th: A CS Christmas Mingle with Kris Kringle (all day event)

  • Library activities from 9am to noon

  • Christmas Storytime at Perry’s place 2pm

  • Parade lineup 4pm and parade starts at 4:30pm

  • Tree lighting and nativity story directly after parade

  • Mingle with Kris Kringle directly after Tree lighting activities

Volunteers needed:

  1. Chamber booth

  2. Tree decorators

  3. Set up/tear down of road blocks at White Pine Trail staging area

Thursday December 12th & Thursday December 19th: A CS Christmas Carriage Rides and Mingle & Shop Late

  • Carriages start setting up after 3pm

  • Volunteers, tent, heater, hot chocolate, signs set up at 3:30pm

  • Hoping for a couple of firepits on Main Street

  • Carriage rides from 4pm to 8pm

  • Mingle & Shop Late from 5pm to 7pm

  • Possible movie at Kent Theatre

Volunteers needed:

  1. Chamber booth

  2. Four people at Carriage ride station to help load/unload

  3. Firepit tender

Cedar’s New Years Springing Eve Ball Drop 2025

  • December 31st

  • No parking signs and firepit set up at 6pm

  • Barricade and crane/ball set up at 8pm

  • Projector screen set up on Ensley Building

  • Sound/music tent on Main Street patio

  • Possible food vendor(s)

  • Early ball drop at Kent Theatre 8:30pm

  • Synergy Dance Company dance competition at 10:30pm

  • Ball drop at midnight

Volunteers needed:

  1. Set up/tear down of no parking signs

  2. Help close and re-open the road

  3. General clean up after spectators disperse

  4. Chamber booth - need four people

  5. Firepit tenders - need twelve people to help set up/tear down fire pits and wood
